Create an EDI Account
What is an EDI account?
Your EDI Account is the entity that represents your company in Orderful. It is identified by a unique combination of ID and ISA ID Qualifier. Exchanging transactions with a Trading Partner requires you to connect your EDI Account to that of your Trading Partner by establishing a Partnership.
When setting up Orderful, you will be required to create at least one EDI Account. You can manage your EDI Account(s) from the EDI Accounts page.
Your EDI account in Orderful
When creating an EDI account, you will be asked to provide the following information:
- EDI Account Name: The name of your company in Orderful. This name is shown to your Trading Partners.
- Live ISA ID: This is a unique ID that you'll use to trade with your Trading Partners. ISA IDs have a max length of 15 characters. The same ID will be used for EDIFACT transactions.
- Live ISA ID Qualifier: This is a unique Qualifier that you'll use to indicate the type of ISA ID for live data.
- Test ISA ID: This is a unique ID that you'll use to trade EDI data with your Trading Partners. ISA IDs have a max length of 15 characters. We recommend using the same ISA ID for both live and test data. The same ID will be used for EDIFACT transactions.
- Test ISA ID Qualifier: This is a unique qualifier that you'll use to indicate the type of ISA ID for test data.

You can also configure defaults used to automate your relationships configuration owned by this EDI Account:
- Default Data Format and Version: The selected data format and version will be applied to your new relationships.
- Receive Acknowledgments by default: This will be applied to the setting "Receive functional acknowledgements" to your new outbound Relationships.
- Send Acknowledgments by default: This will be applied to the setting "I will send functional acknowledgements in response to inbound transactions" to your new inbound Relationships.
- Default Timeout Time: This selected Timeout Time will be applied to your new outbound Relationships.
- Default Live Communication Channel: You can only select one Communication Channel. This will be applied if you receive acknowledgments to your new inbound and outbound Relationships.
- Default Test Communication Channel: You can only select one Communication Channel. This will be applied if you receive acknowledgments to your new inbound and outbound Relationships.
- Default Scenarios: You can select one or more Scenarios. This will be applied to any new trade requests owned by this EDI Account.
- Default Guidelines: You can select several Guidelines but only one per transaction type. The default guideline matching the transaction type of a new Relationship will be applied to this new Relationship.
If you selected an X12 default data format, you'll have to define X12 characters as well:
- X12 Data Element Separator Character: The character that is used to define where an X12 element is split. If you don’t know what this is, it is best to use the default.
- X12 Segment Terminator Character: The character that is used to define where an X12 segment line ends. EDI Translators need this character to properly read the X12 data. If you don’t know what this is, it is best to use the default.
- X12 Component Element Separator Character: The character that is used to define where any component elements in the document are separated. EDI Translators need this character to properly read the X12 data. If you don’t know what this is, it is best to use the default.
