Open and Share a Task
Open a task to see its details and dependencies, move between tasks, and share a link to a specific task.
Click any row in the task table to open the task in a drawer on the right. The row stays highlighted behind the drawer so you keep your place in the list.
What's in the task drawer
The center of the drawer shows the task itself: its title, a description of what's needed, and any form you need to fill in. Tasks written in Markdown display with their formatting.
The Details panel on the right shows:
- Status
- Urgency (open tasks only)
- Related To — the trading partner, with the same hover card as the table
- Assignee
- Created
- Due
Click the X to close the drawer.
Move between tasks
Use the up and down arrows at the top of the drawer to step to the previous or next task, in the same order the table shows them. You don't need to close the drawer and pick another row.
See what a task is waiting on
When a task depends on others, the drawer lists them in two tables:
- Blocked By — The tasks this task is waiting on.
- Blocking — The tasks that are waiting on this one.
Each row shows the task's title, assignee, urgency, and due date. Click a row to open that task in the drawer.
This shows you when your own task is holding up other work. For example, if you haven't confirmed your shipping setup, the test 856 task for the same partner stays blocked until you do.
If a task is waiting on work that Orderful is doing internally, the task shows as blocked, but that internal work isn't listed.
Share a task
Every task has its own link. While a task is open in the drawer, its address in your browser is the link to that task, so you can copy it and send it to a teammate. The link icon at the top of the drawer is a shortcut to the same link. When your teammate opens it, the task opens in the drawer, even if it isn't in the part of the list that's loaded.
The link only opens tasks that person can see in Onboarding Tasks. If a link can't be loaded, the drawer says so and offers Try Again.
Opening a task adds it to your browser history, so the browser's Back button returns you to the list.
