What the Agent Can Do
The lookups, updates, and changes your Orderful agent can handle, which ones need your approval, and what it hands back to the Orderful team.
Beta: invite onlyThe Shared Slack Agent is a beta feature, available only to customers Orderful has invited. What it can do and how it works may change as we improve it, and it may occasionally be slow or unavailable. To ask about access or share feedback, contact your Orderful representative.
Your Orderful agent can do three kinds of things: look up information, make small updates, and make bigger changes once you approve them. It works only on your company's Orderful account.
Look things up
The agent answers these right away.
| Area | What you can ask about |
|---|---|
| Your account | Your EDI account and ISA ID, your communication channels, and an overview of your setup |
| Transactions | Whether a document arrived, was sent, or was delivered; its status (valid, invalid, sent, delivered, failed); finding a transaction by number |
| Errors | Why a document failed validation, field by field, and what to change to fix it |
| Trading partners | Your partnerships and their stage (setup, testing, go-live), what's done, what's next, and who each step is waiting on |
| Documents and rules | Which document types you exchange with a partner, and that partner's rules (guidelines) for a specific document |
| Testing | Your testing checklists and their progress for each partner |
| Trade requests | Pending invitations to and from you, and who they're from |
| EDI help | What an EDI segment means, and whether a document would pass validation before you send it |
| Finding partners | Whether a company is a trading partner on Orderful, its ISA ID and qualifier, and its trading programs |
| Partner requirements | A partner's published requirements, document rules, timelines, and testing steps, one partner at a time |
| Requests you've made | The status of anything you've asked the Orderful team to do through the agent |
| Files you share | Screenshots of errors, partner spec PDFs, and EDI or CSV files posted in the thread, read so it can answer your question |
Small updates
The agent makes these straight away, because they're easy to undo and don't affect your partners:
- Link a test transaction to a step in a testing checklist.
- Mark a testing checklist step as done.
Changes that need your approval
For anything that sends something to a partner, changes your configuration, or adds people, the agent posts a proposal first. It acts only after the person who asked replies with a mention and confirm. See Approve Changes.
| Change | Example |
|---|---|
| Send a trade request | Invite a new trading partner to connect with you |
| Accept or reject a trade request | Respond to an invitation a partner sent you |
| Create a test document | Build a PO acknowledgment (855), ship notice (856), or invoice (810) from a purchase order, on the test stream |
| Copy a transaction | Make a test copy of an existing transaction |
| Resend a transaction | Retry delivery of a document that failed to reach your partner |
| Change a relationship setting | Update a setting on one document type you exchange with a partner |
| Test a communication channel | Check that a connection is working |
| Invite a user | Add a colleague to your Orderful account |
| Request guideline or mapping work | Ask Orderful to update a partner's rules or a mapping for you |
Requests to the Orderful team
The agent can't edit guidelines or mappings itself. When you need that kind of work, for example a partner changed its ship notice requirements, the agent turns your request into a task for Orderful's team after you confirm. Ask the agent for the status of the request at any time.
What the agent can't do
The agent tells you plainly when something is out of its reach, and lets the Orderful team know.
- Billing, contracts, pricing, or commitments about dates
- Moving a trading partner relationship to live (production)
- Editing guidelines or mappings directly (it can request these, as above)
- Creating new partnerships outside a trade request
- Anything about other companies' Orderful accounts or setups
- Numbers or lists about Orderful's network, such as how many customers use Orderful or who else trades with a partner
- Anything outside Orderful, such as your ERP, email, or other systems
- Opening spreadsheets, ZIP files, or other file types besides images, PDFs, and text files
The agent can only see and change what your company could see and change in the Orderful app. If you're not sure whether something is possible, just ask. It'll say if it can't help.
