Validate Outbound Transactions
Check outbound transactions against your guideline before they are delivered.
Outbound guideline validation checks your transactions against your guideline before they are delivered to your trading partner. Transactions that fail validation are marked invalid and not delivered — keeping non-compliant data from reaching your partners.
This option is available on outbound relationships where you own the guideline. It is not available on a relationship where inbound guideline validation is already enabled (the two settings are mutually exclusive).
Enable validation on a specific relationship
- Go to Relationships in the left navigation.
- Open the outbound relationship you want to configure.
- In the outbound configuration panel, check Validate outbound transactions.
- Save the relationship.
Once enabled, any outbound transaction on that relationship that violates your guideline will be marked invalid and will not be delivered.
Mutual exclusivityThe Validate outbound transactions checkbox is unavailable when inbound guideline validation is already enabled on the same relationship. Inbound and outbound guideline validation cannot both be active on the same relationship.
Set a default for new relationships
You can configure outbound guideline validation as the default for all new outbound relationships created under an EDI Account. This mirrors how the Auto Send and Auto Accept defaults work.
- Go to EDI Accounts in the left navigation.
- Click the EDI Account you want to configure to open Account Details.
- Toggle on Validate outbound transactions.
- Save the account.
New relationships created under this EDI Account will have outbound guideline validation enabled automatically.
Existing relationships are not affectedThe EDI Account default only applies to new relationships. To update an existing relationship, edit it directly using the steps above.
