Approve Changes
How your Orderful agent proposes changes, how to confirm or cancel them, and what happens after you confirm.
Beta: invite onlyThe Shared Slack Agent is a beta feature, available only to customers Orderful has invited. What it can do and how it works may change as we improve it, and it may occasionally be slow or unavailable. To ask about access or share feedback, contact your Orderful representative.
Before your Orderful agent sends anything to a trading partner or changes your setup, it shows you exactly what it's going to do and waits for your go-ahead. Nothing changes until you confirm.
How a change works
- You ask. For example:
@Acme Agent please send Northwind Distributors a trade request for purchase orders and invoices. - The agent checks and proposes. It looks up what it needs, then posts a proposal in the thread. The proposal:
- tags you as the requester,
- says exactly what will change: the partner, the documents, the stream (test or live), and any setting's old and new values,
- ends with: Reply with a mention and the word confirm to go ahead.
- You review it. Check the partner, the documents, and the details. If anything is wrong, say what to change (see below).
- You confirm. Reply in the same thread:
@Acme Agent confirm - The agent makes the change exactly as proposed, then replies with what it did.
Only the person who made the request can confirm it. A confirm from anyone else in the channel is ignored, so a teammate can't approve a change on your behalf. If someone else should own it, they can make the request themselves.
Change or cancel a proposal
- To change it, reply in the thread with a mention and what's different, for example
@Acme Agent use [email protected] as the contact instead. The agent posts an updated proposal, and you confirm that one. - To cancel it, don't confirm. Nothing happens until you do. You can also reply
@Acme Agent cancel thatso the thread is clear for everyone.
The agent always acts on the latest proposal in the thread. If you've asked for changes, make sure you're confirming the newest version.
What needs approval
Anything that sends something to a partner, changes configuration, or adds people:
- sending, accepting, or rejecting a trade request
- creating, copying, or resending a transaction
- changing a relationship setting
- testing a communication channel
- inviting a user
- requesting guideline or mapping work from the Orderful team
Lookups and small, reversible updates, such as marking a testing checklist step done, don't need approval. See What the Agent Can Do.
Requests to the Orderful team
Some work, such as updating a partner's rules (guidelines) or a mapping, is done by Orderful's team rather than by the agent. When you confirm one of these, the agent:
- creates a request for the Orderful team with everything you described and a link to your thread,
- tells you it's been passed on.
To check on it later, ask in the same thread: @Acme Agent what's the status of that guideline request?
After a change
- Trade requests go to your partner, who needs to accept them. Ask the agent for an update any time.
- Test documents are created on the test stream. Ask the agent whether they passed validation.
- Resends run in the background. Ask the agent to check delivery after a few minutes.
